Welcome to Our Blog Page

Step inside our corner of Wandsworth life. This is where we share stories, inspiration, and a little of what makes The Alma tick.

Our historic pub with rooms has long been at the heart of the neighbourhood – a place where good food, great company, and local spirit come together. Here on our blog, we’ll take you beyond the bar to meet the people, ideas, and flavours that shape what we do.

From insider tips on the cosiest city breaks to glimpses of our seasonal menus and local events, think of this as your window into life at The Alma. Grab a pint (or a cuppa) and have a read.

Rooms, Renewed

A fresh chapter for our rooms this Autumn.

6 of our rooms are getting a well-deserved makeover, and we can’t wait to show you what’s in store. Inspired by The Alma’s rich history and lively spirit, each space is being refreshed with soft textures, warm tones, and all the little touches that make every stay feel extra special.

Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or a cosy base for your city adventures, expect even more comfort, character, and charm when the doors reopen. Watch this space, exciting things are happening upstairs.

No Passport Needed, Welcome to The Alma

If The Alma could talk, it would probably say, “How you going?”, with a friendly Aussie twang as you step in from the patio that wouldn’t look out of place in a Belgian town square. Just opposite Wandsworth Town Station, that patio has seen its fair share of celebrations – AFL finals, St Patrick’s Day, Oktoberfest, or simply a big rugby day. The Alma is as international and exciting as Heathrow’s departures lounge. Forget Jet 2 Holidays, the Alma is the place to stay in Wandsworth.

With 23 bedrooms and an events calendar that would make even seasoned partygoers blush, there’s always a reason to stay. Heavenly Hypnos mattresses, Bramley toiletries, honesty bars brimming with treats and ensuite bathrooms that rival a spa – you might struggle to leave your room… except to head downstairs for a pint in our beautiful pub.

Here for work? Swap the last spreadsheet of the night for a pottery class instead. Craft a bowl, vase, or mug, and admire it over breakfast the next morning. Speaking of mornings, late check-out is on us when you book direct, so no need to rush that Farmhouse Breakfast of Burford brown eggs, chestnut mushrooms, and pork and apple sausages.

Hard to believe it’s a mid-week stay – but we’ve been looking after people since 1831.

And if you need another reason to visit… we’re making Christmas wreaths in November.
