The Alma's Hygge

Hygge is a wonderful word and means cosy living, e.g. enjoying life's simple pleasures. The Alma is bringing the Hygge special this winter. We are adding new delicious sharers (£20 for 2 people), so start getting your group together, be it old friends or boyfriends-girlfriend treat. Book your table now and enjoy little treats with us!

February 2nd 2017 - 7.00PM - 9.00PM


Through a guided tutorial, a professional butcher will demo the breaking down of part of a carcass and will explain the different cuts, where each cut comes from, the different parts of the animal and what to look for when buying meat. You will also have a chance to get stuck into some butchery!

After all that knife handling, you will get a chance to relax, sit back, and savour the finest American whiskeys through a hosted tasting by an industry professional.

You wll find out the key differences between Kentucky bourbon and Tennessee whiskey, learning the nuances of the liquid through our American whiskey flavour map and even getting to taste the likes of Gentleman Jack, Woodford Reserve and Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel along the way.

We will finish up with some suggested meat-focused food and drink pairings to make sure no one goes home hungry or thirsty.

Bodega Norton Red meat and Malbec Masterclass

16th of Feb, 7-10pm we are holding a masterclass from prestigious and award-winning Argentine wine producer Bodega Norton. You will get the opportunity to meet an expert direct from one of the longest established Argentine brands in the UK.

Established in 1895 by Englishman Edmund Norton, Bodega Norton is on the longest established Argentine brands in the UK. They own 5 estate vineyards with some of the oldest Malbec vines in Mendoza. Their vineyards are 1,100 metres above sea-level- the altitude moderates temperatures and helps create well-structured and food friendly red wines.

You will enjoy a hosted wine and food tasting evening- exploring a range of Norton wines paired with red meats. This will involve tasting 4-5 of Bodega Norton’s top wines, all paired expertly with different cuts of red meats. Franco, direct from the vineyards in Argentina will present each wine and food pairing – educating you on the winemaking process, style of wine and food pairing.
